This
interactive program presents haunting melodies, infectious rhythms,
and a beautiful, poignant story that takes students on an
unforgettable trip back in time to 15th century Spain. Join Simon, a
young boy who in 1492 is forced to leave his homeland with his family
and his people, the Sephardic Jews. Duende’s program explores the geography, history, and language arts of
this rich culture. Vocal music, dual guitars, flute, shawm and dumbek
(Turkish drum) combine to bring this long-ago period vividly to life.
Student participation includes a sing-along in Spanish.
